Dokument's Arduino based Fireworks Launcher made Hack-A-Day :)

Dokument is one of the #makerslocal channel regulars that is starting up the 205 chapter of Makers Local.

Subject:Makers Local 256 USB Authenticated Door Lock
Security:Public

For the past couple of weeks Makers Local 256 has been working on a USB authenticated deadbolt unlocking servo mechanism.

There's a wiki page up here showing some of the design notes.

Here's a video of the project in action:

The comments are hilarious :)
So far this is my favorite:

"Frankly, I just feel better knowing that rock & roll singer and impresario Meat Loaf is as interested in tech-enabled home security solutions as he is belting out guitar-rich, fully-orchestrated rock ballads.

People from my high school built a trebuchet back in '05, the pictures and video just got posted to the internet.

Makes me want to built one at the Make Shop. Maybe we could fling things at the Lowe Mill?

Sara obtained a new vehicle this weekend, an '04 Honda Accord.

We're going to put her '87 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera on Craigslist sometime this week.

If you know anyone who is in need of wheels, she gets about 20/22 city mpg.
It's a V4, needs new brake pads and rubber gasket (weather stripping?) around the driver side door
Both of those are cheap repairs, and the gasket is a matter of comfort, the car will run without it.

It has less than 70,000 miles on it (really low, given its age), It's dark brown, and a 4 door sedan.
Air conditioner works as well.

It's $999 or best offer.  If no one wants her in a month we'll donate her to good will.

Now up on craigslist.

That first number is difficult to make out from
the picture, but it's a 6.
(62,973 miles)

Subject:First Geocaching
Security:Public

Yesterday Sara, myself, Ray and Nathan took a spontaneous Makers Local outing to go Geocaching.
We found two at the Lowe Mill, and one at the Cracker Barrel on University.

I had been meaning to do this for a long time with <lj user = devilturnip>, but by the time I got around to calling him back he had moved to some coastal country.

Geocaching was fun, I'm looking forward to ML256 creating one.

Sara and I are back from Mexico.

On Friday we built a sand castle together.
When she was digging up sand for the moat she found the ring box.
I asked her to marry me and she said yes :)
